There are four marked trails of varying distances that start from the car park. All you need to do is follow the coloured pegs. Do you want to experience more than reality offers? With augmented reality tour (Re)tour Veenhuizen you can look at and listen to a wealth of old photos, stories, videos, maps and objects on your smartphone at various places in the village. Or take a surprising journey with Wandelavonturen, one of the four audio routes by dramatist Henry Alles. There are also hiking adventures for children and youth. The façades in Veenhuizen are a class apart. Their architecture is unique, as are their inscriptions. The architecture walk From Façade to Façade takes you past unique monuments with names that often speak for themselves.
Actief Veenhuizen
In Veenhuizen there is so much to see and do, you'll run short of time. What do you think of escaping from an escape room in a real prison? Perfect as a family or company outing. Actief Veenhuizen offers various sports activities and adventurous promotions in and around the village, such as orienteering (by night), mountain biking or climbing in the adventure park.
The Gardens of Benevolence are also worth a visit, with their heirloom vegetables, lush rows of herbs and colourful flowers. And don't forget Judith Reedijk's DeKunsttuin, where you can admire contemporary sculpture and artisanal ceramics. Need to cool off? Veenhuizen has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool in the middle of the countryside in Drenthe.

Veenhuizen has many more special places and businesses. Visit the churches and the cemetery, also known as 'the Fourth Asylum'. Be sure to have a look in the workshop and museum of grave drums, where volunteers restore and display grave drums and wreaths.
